Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about XREAL AURA.
General Questions
What is XREAL AURA?
XREAL AURA are wired XR glasses powered by Android XR. It consists of 95g glasses and a 265g Compute Puck that work together to provide spatial computing capabilities.
How is XREAL AURA different from other XR devices?
- See-through: XREAL AURA features true optical see-through displays (the real world is directly visible through the lenses), whereas typical VR headsets rely on video passthrough (cameras capturing and rendering screens in front of your eyes).
- Weight on head: The glasses weigh only 95g on your face, whereas typical VR headsets are significantly heavier.
- Form factor: XREAL AURA uses lightweight glasses connected to a separate Compute Puck, whereas typical VR headsets are heavy, all-in-one headworn devices.
- Real-world latency: Optical see-through provides a direct view of physical surroundings without camera capture and video composition pipelines; virtual content rendering and tracking response remain dependent on system and sensor processing. VR headsets introduce camera capture and display latency.
- Primary use cases: XREAL AURA is designed for spatial productivity, AR experiences, and media consumption, whereas typical VR headsets are for immersive VR gaming.
Do I need prescription lenses?
If you normally wear corrective lenses, you have three options:
- Obtain prescription lenses through official channels.
- Use the included Optical Insert Frame with prescription lenses.
- Wear contact lenses.
How do I charge AURA and how long does the battery last?
- Battery Life: The Compute Puck provides 3–4 hours of typical use. You can connect a charger while using for extended sessions.
- Charging Method: Use the included USB-C charging cable connected to the Compute Puck's Charging Port (left side port). We recommend using a USB-PD or PPS charger (the device supports up to 57W input).
- Charging Status: When charging, the LED indicators on the Compute Puck breathe slowly in amber or green, and turn solid green when fully charged.
