Cleaning & Care
Proper cleaning keeps your XREAL AURA in optimal condition.
Clean the Lenses
Before cleaning the lenses, turn off the device, disconnect the glasses cable, and place the glasses on a stable surface.
Recommended Materials
- A clean, dry microfiber cloth, like the cleaning cloth provided.
- Optical-grade lens cleaner (apply to the cloth, not directly to the lenses).
- Compressed air (for removing loose dust).
Prohibited Materials
- Do not use rough fabrics, paper towels, or household tissues.
- Do not use liquids or chemicals like isopropyl alcohol, acetone, ammonia-based products (such as glass cleaner), or other solvents.
Lens Cleaning Steps
- Blow away loose dust. Use compressed air or gently blow on the lenses to remove abrasive particles.
- Wipe the surface. Gently wipe the lenses in a circular motion from the center to the outer edges.
- Clean stubborn smudges. Apply a small amount of optical-grade lens cleaner to the cloth, then wipe the lenses.
Warning: Never use disinfectant wipes or washing liquid to clean the lenses. These will permanently damage the optical coating and the electrochromic layer.
Clean the Frame
Before cleaning the frame and temples, turn off the device and place it on a stable surface.
- Wipe the frame and temples with a clean, dry microfiber cloth.
- Do not use wet wipes or abrasive materials on the frame.
Frame Cleaning Steps
- Wipe down the temples. Wipe the plastic and rubber sections of the temples where they contact your skin.
- Remove stubborn residue. Dampen a corner of the microfiber cloth slightly with distilled water, wipe the frame, then dry it immediately with a dry section of the cloth.
- Clean the tracking cameras and sensors. Gently wipe the front RGB camera, hinge tracking cameras, and ambient light sensors to ensure accurate 6DoF spatial anchoring and hand tracking.
Important: Keep moisture away from the USB-C port, speaker grilles, and microphone ports.
Clean the Nose Pads
Nose pads contact your skin directly and should be cleaned regularly to prevent oil buildup.
- Remove the nose pad. Gently pull it away from the frame to detach it from the mount.
- Wash with warm water. Hand-wash the nose pad with warm water and a small amount of unscented, dye-free dish soap.
- Dry thoroughly. Wipe with a clean towel and allow to dry completely before reattaching.
Clean the Compute Puck
Before cleaning the Compute Puck, turn it off and disconnect all cables.
- Wipe the body and touchpad with a clean, dry microfiber cloth.
- Do not spray liquids or use chemical cleaners on the Compute Puck.
Compute Puck Cleaning Steps
- Wipe the touchpad. Gently wipe the touchpad to remove fingerprints and oils.
- Clean the ventilation openings. Use compressed air to blow away dust from the air intake and outlet grilles.
- Inspect the ports. Verify that the Glasses Port and Charging Port are free of dust and lint.
Warning: Do not insert any objects into the ventilation grilles. Do not allow liquid to enter the ports or vents. Blocked or damaged vents can cause overheating and reduce device performance.
Clean the Cables
- Disconnect the cable from all devices before cleaning.
- Wipe the cable surface gently with a clean, dry microfiber cloth.
- Check the USB-C connectors at both ends for dirt, lint, or debris.
- Inspect the cable for visible wear, bends, or damage.
Environmental Considerations
Water Resistance
XREAL AURA is not water resistant:
- Rain or splashes: Power off immediately, wipe dry, air dry for 24 hours
- Sweat: Wipe frame and nose pads after use
- High humidity: Avoid prolonged use
Temperature
- Device overheating: Stop use, wait for it to cool
- Cold environments: Allow device to return to room temperature before use
- Extreme temperature changes: Avoid; may cause condensation
